What is Medical Travel Assistance?

Medical Travel Assistance (MTA) is a 24 hour toll-free emergency service that can help you access emergency assistance when traveling 100 or more miles away from home. Medical Travel Assistance is there when a crisis strikes. Multilingual service professionals stand ready to assist travelers in over 200 countries and territories worldwide.

With a Medical Travel Assistance membership, you have access to Emergency Medical and Personal Services as well as Pre-trip Information.

Who Is Responsible To Pay For The Services?

The member is financially responsible for any actual expenses associated with any service, such as transportation costs and medical expenses, but not for any arrangements that MTA makes or MTA’s case management fees. For example, the member must provide a credit card guarantee for a cash advance, but all expenses associated with arranging and handling such as a request are MTA’s responsibility (except any transfer or wire fees associated with this service). MTA will not charge for internal expenses such as telephone costs, medical monitoring fees, or time dedicated to working on your case.

The assistance provider Medical Travel Assistance reserves the right to suspend, curtail or limit its services in any area in the event of hazardous flight conditions, rebellion, riot, military uprising, war, labor disturbances and strike, nuclear accidents, acts of God, or refusal or authorities in the country of assistance to permit MTA to fully provide service. MTA will, however, endeavor to provide services to the best of its ability during any such occurrence. MTA cannot guarantee service in the above stated situations however, the member is eligible for coverage in all countries of the world (please see applicable plan exclusions). MTA reserves the right to update the list of countries in which its services are not available. It is the responsibility of the Covered Member to inquire whether a country is “open” for assistance prior to his or her departure and during his or her stay. In any event, MTA will make the best possible effort regardless of circumstance to render assistance as much as possible.

The Advance Benefits discount programs are not health insurance policies. The plan provides discounts at network pharmacies and mail order facilities. The plan does not make payments directly to the providers. The plan members are obligated to pay for all services but will receive a discount from those pharmacies that have contracted with this discount plan organization. It is the member’s responsibility to confirm with member services that a pharmacy is an active provider.
